Games

Youth leader: Meredith Warbinton

Adult mentor: Kelley Warbinton

  • Coordinate inflatables, games and other activities.
  • Research game options.
  • Recruit game sponsors.
  • Organize activities for carnival day.
  • Create signage.
  • Coordinate game prizes.
  • Manage “King” and “Queen” contests.

 

Marketplace

Adult mentor: Jill Zaniker

  • Recruit vendors for marketplace area.
  • Coordinate vendors and volunteers on carnival day.
  • Help make bags, bracelets and other items to sell.

Education

Youth leader: 

Adult mentor:  Laura Lucas

  • Create videos and presentations to tell the story of the carnival and how it helps the kids in Kenya
  • Tell others about life in Chulaimbo, Kenya
  • Present education segment at monthly meetings
  • Conduct presentations at congregations, schools and other organizations
  • Coordinate and host Education tent at the carnival

 

Corporate Sponsorships

Youth leader:  Roshni Bag

Adult mentor:  Anushree Bag

  • Create promotional packet and sponsorship levels
  • Create target list of contacts
  • Rehearse presentation
  • Meet with corporate contacts and present carnival sponsor information
  • Coordinate sponsor t-shirts
  • Make sure corporate sponsors are recognized on web site, promotional materials and on carnival day

 

Fundraising

Adult mentor:  Laura Lucas

  • Present creative fundraising ideas
  • Track fundraising goals and progress
  • Recognize fundraising efforts
  • Help recruit volunteers for fundraising activities

 

Legal/Logistics

  • Research liability and insurance issues
  • Plan for inclement weather and other contingencies
  • Develop carnival layout
  • Coordinate parking, directional signage, first aid and other carnival day details

 

Interfaith Activities

Adult mentor:  Joe Connelly

  • Coordinate faith-related activities at monthly meetings
  • Encourage diverse groups to get involved
  • Create interfaith display showcasing faith groups on carnival day

 

Promotion

  • Research media targets, including television, radio and print
  • Register carnival on local community calendars
  • Coordinate flyer and postcard production
  • Arrange interviews in advance of carnival
  • Coordinate “Paint the Town” day to spread flyers around town
  • Follow up with media contacts days before carnival

 

 

Entertainment

  • Recruit and schedule musicians and other entertainers for carnival day

 

Food

Adult mentor:  Bob Getts

  • Plan food options for carnival day
  • Purchase food and plan preparation
  • Coordinate soft drink and water collection
  • Volunteer to help in food area
  • Sell water/food around carnival
